I want to take a few minutes to introduce myself. My name is Lorie Allison Arnold. I am a wife, mother, grandmother, and retired special education teacher. A few years ago, I went to a seminar on sex trafficking, and it was there that the Lord laid heavily on my heart to become involved. So, I did. I became involved with Out of Darkness Ministries and went out in the community to pray with Ladies who were involved in prostitution. From there, I went on the become Assistant Director at a home for women recovering from addiction. When I moved to Albany, Ga I opened Victory Over Darkness. It was a home for women who wanted to be free from addiction and for those overcoming trauma and abuse. When my late husband became sick, I decided to close the home. I felt a part of me missing. I recently remarried a wonderful man, and life is becoming full again. After much prayer, I decided to step out and reopen an outreach ministry, and that is how Victory Out of Darkness came to be. Serving others and sharing God’s word is my heart and my passion. Helping those who are hurting and feeling alone come to realize they are loved, wanted and enough makes my heart smile. I know what it feels like to hurt. I know what it feels like when your world shatters into pieces and how those emotions bring anger, despair, and hopelessness. When I was a young girl, I was sexually abused by someone close to me. I was scared and felt no one would believe me. The pain only grew and intensified, and I became someone i hated. I threw myself into school, work, an alcohol with incidents of cutting myself to stop the pain on the inside and place it on the outside. For years I felt out of control, but on the outside, I performed because I had children to raise and provide for. At a youth rally I took my daughters to at our church, God very plainly said, “IT is time to heel”! It is time to let go. It took a lot of praying, a lot of crying a lot of building a relationship with God and trusting in Him but I healed. I believe all things are possible when you have God. There is healing, and you can overcome, my scars remind me just how strong I am. God has used my experiences to help me understand and help others who are hurting.
